This past Wednesday, May 14, the 100 Men Reading Program hosted yet another successful event. Governor Markell addressed the group via letter and Delaware Secretary of Education, Mark Murphy, attended in person to commend the volunteers on their excellent efforts and encourage everyone to continue their support. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank all of you for your support of the 100 Men Reading Program. Without your continued efforts, none of this would be possible.

Through your efforts we continue to grow! Volunteers and readers gathered in Sussex and Kent County for a third consecutive time, making our event statewide.

Our next reading event will be held in Nov of 2014. The Board challenges you to come again and invite a friend.

100 Men Reading

Our Visionary…

Visionary Imani Henry and Gov. Markell

100 Men Reading Day is an initiative envisioned by Ms. Imani Henry, a 10 year old from Newark, DE who saw the need to have men go into the schools and child care centers to read to students in order to promote literacy development and encourage students to read.  As a result of her vision, Imani was awarded a grant sponsored by Macy’s and Reading is Fundamental (RIF) 45th Annual Reading Celebration Campaign.  Governor Markell recognized her hard work and commitment to serve her community through her efforts to promote literacy, giving her an official Literacy Month Proclamation.  Read more at About.
